Have you ever felt the calming power of walking through a forest or listening to waves crash on the shore? At the Center for Nature Informed Therapy (CNIT), we believe that nature holds a key to emotional well-being. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our inaugural Trailblazer in Nature-Informed Therapy Award, celebrating CNIT graduates who use innovative, nature-based methods to transform mental health care.

What Is the Trailblazer in Nature-Informed Therapy Award?

Our Trailblazer Award pays tribute to the pioneers who have gone above and beyond in integrating mental health practices with the natural world. Whether they’re launching new community initiatives, contributing vital research, or bringing fresh nature-based experiences to underserved populations, these graduates embody CNIT’s mission: restoring the bond between humans and the environment.

How the Winner Will Be Honored

  • A Special Presentation: The award will be presented at CNIT’s Community Dinner on September 10, 2025.

  • Meaningful Prizes: The recipient will receive a $100 REI gift card, plus a $100 donation to a charity of their choice, in addition to a commemorative plaque.

  • Community Spotlight: We’ll feature the winner on our website, social media channels, and newsletter—shining a light on their contributions and inspiring others to join the movement.

Why It Matters

Nature Informed Therapy (NIT) merges evidence-based psychological practices with meaningful nature engagement. Whether it’s a guided forest immersion or a simple mindful walk outside, research shows how immersing ourselves in natural settings can help reduce stress, improve coping skills, and foster resilience. By recognizing those who champion this approach in new, creative ways, CNIT aims to expand the reach of nature-based mental health support.

Who’s Eligible and How to Nominate

  • Graduates of CNIT’s NIT Training: Individuals who have successfully completed our trainings and are making waves in mental health, environmental stewardship, or community advocacy.

  • Nomination Process: We welcome both self-nominations and peer submissions. Check our website for deadlines, details, and the simple application steps.

Join Us at the Community Dinner

Along with unveiling the award winner, the September 10th Community Dinner is a chance to meet our broader CNIT family. Hear stories of hope and learn more about upcoming training opportunities, including scholarship options for those facing financial barriers. If you can’t attend in person, we’ll have a virtual component to make sure everyone can celebrate with us.
