Introduction

Welcome to our unique Eco-Art Intervention training, a pioneering program that merges the realms of art, healing, and the environment. This course is meticulously crafted for mental health professionals eager to explore the creative processes that cultivate a profound connection with nature and enhance self-expression. Dive into the symbiotic relationship between your practice and the natural world, under the guidance of Renee Vanderstelt, LGPAT/LGPC, a Certified Nature Informed Therapist and Art Therapist.

  • Date and Time: Friday, October 11, 9am - 5pm ET

  • Format: Live Online CNIT Course, featuring live workshops, breakout groups, and hands-on art interventions.

The Center for Nature Informed Therapy has been approved by NBCC

as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7473.

Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Center for Nature Informed Therapy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.  Nature Informed Therapy Training Level I: Integrating Nature into Your Clinical Practice Live 3-Day Program will earn 6.5 NBCC credit hours.

This program consists of 6.5 NBCC clock hours of continuing education instruction. Credit requirements and approvals vary per state board regulations. Please save the course outline, the certificate of completion you receive from the activity and contact your state board or organization to determine specific filing requirements 

​

​The Center for Nature Informed Therapy, Provider No. 2022, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: July 7, 2024-July 7, 2025.  Social workers completing this course receive 6.5 general continuing education credits.

What You Will Learn

  • Understand the Foundational Concepts of Eco-Art Interventions: Participants will define and explain the principles of Eco-Art and how integrating nature into creative processes can facilitate emotional healing and personal growth.

​

  • Explore the Therapeutic Benefits of Nature-Informed Art Interventions: Participants will learn specific nature-informed art techniques and interventions that foster a sense of belonging, self-compassion, and identity within clients.

​

  • Identify and Apply Eco-Art Techniques in Mental Health Practice: Participants will identify techniques to incorporate natural materials and elements (e.g., air, earth) into art therapy, enhancing therapeutic outcomes for clients dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, and other mental health challenges.

​

  • Demonstrate Practical Skills in Using Eco-Art for Individual and Group Therapy: Through case studies and hands-on activities, participants will practice integrating eco-art into both individual and group therapy settings, expanding their toolkit for creative interventions.

​

  • Integrate Eco-Art Interventions with Established Therapeutic Modalities: Participants will explore how eco-art techniques can complement and be integrated with other therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care.

01:30 - 03:00 pm: Identity: family/community & self 

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure.

03:15 - 04:45 pm: Mobile: bridge between air & earth

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure.

Course Themes and Activities

  • Belonging & Connection: Engage in activities designed to deepen connections with the natural world, including participant workshops on nature-informed art interventions.

 

  • Self-Compassion & Hope: Learn hand-building techniques with clay and natural materials, exploring metaphors for healing.

  • Identity: Family/Community & Self: Create genogram maps and shadow portraits using natural elements, focusing on personal and community identity.

​

  • Mobile: Bridge Between Air & Earth: Craft a mobile that symbolizes the connection between air, earth, and personal energy, using woven vines and found objects.
