Why Donors Fund CNIT

People are carrying more stress, grief, and disconnection—and many communities lack accessible, culturally responsive mental health supports. At CNIT, we expand the field of care by training professionals to integrate nature-informed practices ethically and effectively, and by bringing nature-based programs directly into communities.

Your gift builds two outcomes at once: stronger mental health access and deeper care for the environments that make healing possible.

  • Expand access to nature-based wellbeing for under-resourced communities

  • Train clinicians to bring evidence-informed nature practices into real settings

  • Strengthen reciprocity and stewardship so healing also supports the land

What Your Gift Makes Possible

When you fund scholarships, you grow the number of trained clinicians who can ethically deliver nature-informed care—especially in communities where resources are scarce.

Gifts don’t stop at training. CNIT supports graduates to implement micro-programs that bring nature-based wellbeing into the community—right away.

Support strengthens the research and evaluation needed to improve interventions, communicate outcomes, and bring nature-informed mental health into mainstream systems.

We treat nature as a partner in healing. Your gift helps us build programs that increase care for local places—through education, reciprocity practices, and partnerships.

The Ripple Effect:
One Scholarship Becomes Community Impact

A recent grant funded full scholarships for three participants—each of whom will implement a micro-community program after training. This is how CNIT multiplies impact: training becomes action, and action becomes community wellbeing.

Recipient 1:

Will co-design and co-facilitate a two-day eco-arts healing intensive with young Syrian women who have returned to their hometowns after years of displacement—supporting connection to land, belonging, and resilience through nature-based creative practices.

Recipient 2:

Partnering with the Frederick County Child Advocacy Center to deliver “Roots & Resilience,” a brief, trauma and nature-based program for children and their non-abusive caregivers impacted by trauma and/or child welfare involvement—building nervous-system regulation skills and strengthening caregiver co-regulation & relational connection.

Recipient 3:

Will lead a nature-informed workshop exploring Caribbean, Indigenous, and Hispanic ancestral ways of relating to the natural world—creating an inclusive space that supports access, representation, and belonging for people who may feel hesitant or excluded in outdoor settings.

These micro-programs are supported through CNIT’s post-training mentorshipbso ideas don’t stall out; they launch with guidance, accountability, and care.
