Train Close to Home in the Mountain West

You no longer have to cross the country to train in nature informed therapy. Each year we bring our foundational training to Salt Lake City, putting it within reach of practitioners across Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona. Learn in one of the most striking landscapes in the country, then carry the work back to your own clients and community.

The Utah Session

  • Dates: June 29 to July 1, 2026 and Spring 2027

  • Venue: Urban Conservation Garden, in the foothills of the Wasatch Range

  • Format: 3 full days, in person, moving between indoor instruction and outdoor practice

  • Open to: mental health professionals and allied practitioners

  • Next step: an optional 3-month online mentorship completes the path to certification

A Landscape That Teaches

High desert light, the geology of the Colorado Plateau, and the rising wall of the Wasatch give the Mountain West a character you will not find in a conference room or an eastern woodland. Training here means practicing nature informed skills in an environment of openness and scale, where the relationship between a person and the land is immediate and unmistakable. For practitioners who work with clients across Utah and the Intermountain West, the skills you build map directly onto the places your clients already know and love.

Who This Is For

The training runs two tracks side by side. Mental health professionals (therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists) earn CE hours and work toward Certified Nature Informed Therapist status. Allied practitioners (educators, healthcare providers, wellness coordinators, community leaders) build a field-ready toolkit and work toward Certified Nature Informed Practitioner status.

What You'll Learn

Over three days you'll cover the research foundations of nature informed therapy, assessment and intervention tools, hands-on experiential practice, and the ethics of working with clients outdoors. You leave with a Starter Kit and tools you can use the following week.

Travel and Lodging

Fly into Salt Lake City International Airport, about 20 minutes from the venue. Much of the Mountain West is within a day's drive: roughly 5 hours from Boise, 4 to 5 hours from Jackson, and 6 hours from Las Vegas. [Confirm and adjust these drive times.] From farther hubs like Denver or Phoenix, flying is usually easier.

Lodging is independent. Salt Lake City offers a wide range of hotels and short-term rentals within 15 minutes of the venue. Book at least 60 days ahead for summer dates.
