About the Program
Families are systems. So are forests. Rooted Relationships explores the powerful parallels between human family dynamics and the natural ecosystems that surround us, equipping mental health professionals and family therapists with practical, nature-based interventions to support families through challenge and growth.
This training is designed for professionals working with families of all ages and compositions, from blended families and intergenerational households to parents navigating early childhood, adolescence, or transition. You will leave with assessment tools, hands-on interventions, and a clear framework for integrating natural settings into family therapy practice.
What you will learn:
•        Theoretical Foundations: Understand the systemic origins of family therapy and how ecological thinking deepens the work
•        Assessment Tools: Learn nature-based approaches to evaluating family dynamics, attachment patterns, and relational health
•        Practical Applications: Apply tested interventions with families in outdoor settings, from neighborhood parks to wilderness retreats
Â
Whether you work in private practice, school counseling, community mental health, or organizational settings, this training translates immediately to your client work. The interventions are designed to be flexible: scalable to brief sessions or expansive multi-session programs, and adaptable to indoor offices when outdoor access is limited.
You will also gain a community of fellow practitioners committed to family-centered, nature-informed care, with access to follow-up consultation and case discussion.
3 CE credits available for licensed mental health professionals.
Bring the wisdom of the natural world into your work with families. Help the systems you serve grow stronger roots.
