About the Program

Talk therapy carries clients far. But not all the way. Beyond Talk: Integrating Nature, Music & Expressive Arts into Clinical Practice is a three-day intensive that gives clinicians practical, nature-informed expressive arts and music-based interventions to enhance regulation, insight, engagement, and therapeutic depth.

This training is built for therapists, counselors, and helping professionals who want to expand their clinical toolkit beyond verbal-only methods. You will learn how creative modalities and natural elements work together to access emotional material that purely cognitive approaches sometimes cannot reach.

What you will learn:

•         Mindfulness: through sound, movement, and tactile media, with techniques for grounding clients in their bodies and the natural environment

•         Arts processes: for emotion mapping, perspective shifting, and insight, drawing from established expressive arts therapy frameworks

•         A cohesive approach: that adapts to office-based, outdoor, and telehealth settings, ensuring the techniques are usable regardless of your practice context

The program emphasizes hands-on experiential learning. You will engage in the practices yourself before teaching them, building confidence and embodied understanding of how the interventions land for clients.

This training is appropriate for practitioners working with adults, adolescents, families, and groups. Special attention is given to adapting techniques for trauma-informed care, neurodivergent clients, and culturally responsive practice.

12 CE credits available for licensed mental health professionals.

Program dates: September 1 to 3, 2026. Early bird deadline: July 3, 2026.

When words run out, the body, the song, and the natural world are still there. Learn to meet your clients in those places, and watch the work go deeper.
